Au début de l’année 2019, le millésime 2017 a été couvert de louanges de tous les côtés et aperçu comme nouvelle référence du domaine Chanson Père & Fils. Steven Spurrier, Jancis Robinson et Jasper Morris ne tarissaient pas d’éloges sur les vins de Chanson de 2017 et leur donnaient les meilleures notes possibles.

Mais voilà que le millésime 2016 est en reprise. Dans son numéro du 30 avril 2019, le Wine Spectator, magazine oenologique américain, se penchait sur le millésime 2016 de différentes appellations. Parmi les dix meilleurs premiers crus de Beaune, le lecteur ne trouve pas moins que trois vins de Chanson. Deux d’entre eux se trouvent dans le top trois avec 93 points – la meilleure évaluation. Beaune Clos du Roi Premier Cru 2016 (93 points)

« A juicy, inviting red, with a supple texture framing the floral, cherry, raspberry, sandalwood and baking spice flavors. Beautifully balanced, fragrant and long. Best from 2021 through 2033. »

Beaune Clos des Marconnets Premier Cru 2016 (93 points)

« A subtle vegetal aroma accents the central theme of black cherry and blackberry fruit, picking up warm spice notes as this plays out on the palate. Floral and mineral elements peck through as this builds to the lengthy finish. The tannins leave a dusty impression. Best from 2022 through 2038. »

Beaune Bastion Premier Cru 2016 (91 points)

« A hefty dose of oak borders the plush core of black cherry flavors, with spice and toast accents. In the end, this is juicy, revealing and edge of tannins that tips to the dry side. Should come together in a year or two. Best from 2022 through 2036. »

Defined by vivid acidity, this red is racy, corralling the cherry, currant, tobacco, earthy and mineral flavors into a linear frame. Shows an underlying smokiness, along with fine length. Best from 2021 through 2035. »
